CTA is the U.S. National Committee (USNC) TAG Administrator for International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee 100 (TC 100), Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems and Equipment, and Technical Committee 124 (TC 124),Wearable Electronic Devices and Technologies.


The U.S. TAG provides the management for U.S. participation in TC 100 and TC 124. It initiates New Proposals for nationally accepted Standards and Technical Reports and approves proposals and committee drafts submitted by Standards Developing Organizations or Consortia for consideration by TC 100 or TC 124 as International Standards. The U.S. TAG also determines U.S. positions on IEC standards, technical reports, committee drafts, questionnaires, TC 100 or TC 124 meeting agenda items (and allows delegate flexibility on them), and meeting reports. It assists with resolving US comments on draft IEC standards. The U.S. TAG provides U.S. representation to TC 100 or TC 124 meetings, designates heads and members of delegations, and ensures proper U.S. participation. The U.S. TAG identifies and establishes close liaison relationship with other U.S. TAGs in related areas. The TAG recommends the acceptance of Secretariats for IEC Technical Committees to the United States National Committee (USNC), and it makes recommendations to the USNC on TC 100 or TC 124 meetings in the U.S. The U.S. TAG also recommends candidates to the USNC for leadership and participation in IEC TC 100 or IEC TC 124 working groups, project teams, and maintenance teams.


Membership in the U.S. TAG is open to all US national interested parties who indicate that they are directly and/or materially affected by the activity of the TAG, after being informed concerning TAG working procedures and scope of activities. A national interested party is any individual located in the US, representing an organization, company, government agency or themselves, including US branch offices of foreign companies.
